Is This Our God-Appointed Time?

“From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.”
— Acts 17:26

For you, too, were born for such a time as this.

As you trod through the mundane tasks of your everyday existence are you ever tempted to wonder if your life will ultimately have any real meaning or impact? Our Creator God answers this question by giving us a front row seat to an exchange between Mordecai and his cousin Esther. Queen Esther had been given a unique opportunity to intercede for the Jews to prevent a planned genocide, but this opportunity was fraught with danger. If she approached the king without being summoned, she could instantly be put to death. Mordecai framed her situation as one of Divine Appointment by saying, “If you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14).

Our first response may be to think that we have not been placed in Esther’s extraordinary circumstances. Certainly, we haven’t been appointed to a royal position, and when have we ever been called upon to risk all that we hold dear to save others? But isn’t that exactly what has happened to us? Are we not the adopted children of the Great King? Hasn’t Jesus called us to sacrifice our time, talent, treasure, and, if need be, our very lives to bring His message of saving grace to a dying world?

Hopefully, as we contemplate our royal position, and God’s challenge to risk everything we have for the Kingdom of God, we won’t miss another beautifully inspiring lesson from the book of Esther: God’s timing is always perfect. The following headline recently appeared in my news feed: “Sign of Great Hope: Religious Leaders See a Fourth Great Awakening as Americans Flock to Christianity”. Is this true? Could we be on the verge of the spiritual revival that so many of us have longed and prayed for? Has Honor The Name Ministries been born for such a time as this? Is God calling you to join us in the unity of true Christian fellowship to participate in our mission to honor and celebrate the Name of Jesus? Only the Holy Spirit can reveal the answers to these questions. But whether or not God is calling you to become a part of the HTN movement, please know that you matter immensely to Him! And, like Esther, through Him your life has great meaning and immense potential to impact this world! So, I encourage you today to ask the Holy Spirit to make you aware and sensitive to the Divine Appointments, both big and small, that He is coordinating in your life, on behalf of others, and for the Glory of God. For you too, were born for such a time as this!
